 Stretch Yourself
“Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”
1 Timothy 4:7-8

We believe that an essential part of the Christian life is a commitment to personal growth, a desire to be more like Jesus. This requires an intentional effort to stretch yourself externally and internally.

By “external stretching” we mean finding a place to serve in the church. God gives every believer gifts and abilities for the good of the whole church family. As we focus on others and serve them in various ways, we grow to be more like Jesus.

When we say “internal stretching,” we are talking about doing the hard work of processing the wounds and hurts of the past, discovering who we are in Christ, and breaking out of a lifestyle of rebellion and failure. Christ died to set us free from slavery to sin, and we can taste that victory in this life.

We stretch ourselves, seeking to grow more and more into the image of Jesus Christ.
